Day 4 & 6

Sorry! I missed yet more days! So much has been happening - but I'll save that for another post!

So ~day 4~ 10 different foods you like!

1) Cake - any type, but preferably with lots of icing. Fruit flavoured is also preferable, but chocolate is good too. I especially love cute, loliable cakes, like macaroons (technically a biscuit-thing but whatever) or strawberry tarts!
2) Sweets, especially strawberry flavoured ones! I'm not a chocolate fan, you see...
3) Chilli con carne - a little random, but never mind.
4) Fruit!
5) Mange tout (sugar snap peas). They're really delicious!
6) Tropical juice (a drink, but it still counts, right?).
7) Anything grape flavoured, like grape fanta, or grape mentos.
8) Sour things - especially sour skittles!
9) Garlic bread.
10) Candy floss! So lovely and sweet ~hehe.

I'll do day 5 in a separate post so here's day 6!

10 things you can't live without in lolita!

1) A really poofy petticoat! I love a cupcake-shaped skirt.
2) My chocomint star clip - I just think it really finishes off an outfit!
3) A cute decoden phone case to match my outfit (I have four different ones).
4) A wig. I really hate my natural hair, well I used to... Until I dyed it, and now quite like it!
5) The EGL communities!
6) Nail art stuff, to do nails to match my outfit.
7) My job, so I can actually afford lolita clothes!
8) The internet in general, so I can read blogs, and look on hellolace, and such like.
9) My family, who are all really supportive of lolita!
10) Confidence, which I only sometimes have...

Thank you for reading! I'll probably do day 5 and 7 together tomorrow, which is a little odd, but never mind! Bye for now.

Day 2 & 3

Hi everyone! So, I missed a day... Sorry! So here's day 2 and 3!

10 things you love in lolita! ~day 2

1) The beautiful prints and such like which I can look at for ages, look away, look back and see something new!
2) Having a dream dress, and that feeling when you've saved enough to buy something you really want.
3) The lovely people who dress in lolita - everyone on the EGL forums are so nice and supportive!
4) Having an excuse to take a photo of your outfit so you can post it on Daily Lolita or in your journal, just because each outfit is special.
5) Treasuring my lolita clothes and accessories, not just because they cost a lot, but because I love them so much!
6) Knowing all the exchange rates for buying stuff internationally (since all my loli stuff comes from abroad). This can be rather useful ~hehe.
7) Being able to look at beautiful things as much as I want (on the internet of course) and admiring them!
8) The poofy petticoats, and how lovely your dress looks with an awesome petticoat.
9) Not caring about what people think, because lolita is something just for you!
10) The way it makes me feel so happy - simple as that!!

10 things you hate in lolita ~day 3

1) The brand vs. offbrand debate. Why can't people just be happy with their clothes? Why do we feel the need to debate them. Love them and who cares what others think?
2) How hard it is to sit down with a big poofy petticoat. I mean, I don't want to squash my petticoat, but my legs are always really tired!
3) How it really consumes your life. I love that I have something to do and think about, but talking about it a lot doesn't bode well with family and friends.
4) The dry cleaning bills...
5) Shipping costs!
6) How embarassing it is not being able to do an LJ cut... And having to have it explained to you by another egl member!
7) How unaccepting people are about it. Why should they care? Is my fashion offending them? I should think not. *nods*
8) The cost! I save and save with little money to go out with my friends, go to the cinema, etc. But it's worth it!
9) Waiting for the postman day in and day out!
10) How my want-to-buy list grows everyday and my bank balance doesn't.

Done!

On other notes - I dyed my hair 'butterscotch' coloured. How was I supposed to know butterscotch is secret code for ginger??? Never mind. It's not that bad, I don't think... And my dream dress hasn't arrived yet, but hopefully it will tomorrow! Yay!

Thank you for reading! ~see you tomorrow!

30 day Lolita Challenge ~day 1

I thought I'd have a go at the challenge thing! It sounds fun!

~day 1 - 10 things about your lolita bubble.

I'm a little confused about this one... Never mind, I'll have a go!

1) I am unique (in my area, obviously not in the world, since lolita is popular all around now!) Since I'm the only lolita for literally miles around, it's fun to be individual. It's fun to be asked, 'what are you wearing?' and explaining!
2) I have a hobby I really love and something that can pretty much consume my life. For example, lolita is constantly on my mind, all my money is spent on lolita and I check the communities and sales a few times a day! I would say I'm a little obsessed.
3) I can feel beautiful whenever I want just by wearing lolita. I feel like the clothes can change me into a different person. Add a dress and wig to my otherwise dull look, and there we have it, I feel great! Even if I don't look it particularly...
4) I'm able to ramble on and on to people about lolita and not care that they're not bothered! Because I just love talking about it!
5) And I have yet another reason to reach my goal to live in Japan.
6) I can to justify spending £100 on a dress, even saying to my parents: 'that's actually not that expensive' while they collapse in horror!
7) I have something to do when I stay up late - looking at the lolita communities and researching new prints and dresses, etc.
8) I can finally quench my desire for cute, frilly clothes, since I've found a place to buy them! (Closet Child, egl comm sales)
9) I now have something to save for, rather than blowing all my money on frivolous things. I actually saved enough for my dream dress and bought it last sunday!
10) I've made new friends, and now have a lolita penpal! I've met (well, online) people I would never otherwise have met. I've really broadened my horizons in that way! Which is great, because I'm actually pretty shy in real life.

That's day 1 done! Yay!

In other news - my dream dress should be arriving saturday or monday!! I'm so excited!! It's the Metamorphose Rabbit Cafe dress, since I love all bunny prints, and it's in mint. I shall post photos when it arrives!

Thank you for reading ~bye for now.

Outfit Post #2

~Tada! Today's outfit! I just wanted to try out my new wig with an outfit, and I thought the pink of the dress matched pretty well.

Outfit rundown!

Now, what's been happening with me lately... Well, it's the last day of school tomorrow! Finally I'll be free ~yay! And it's only 1 week and 4 days until I can afford my dream dress. I'll be putting up a want-to-buy on the egl comm sales then. I can't wait!! Thank you for reading!

My Wig Arrived ~yayyyy

Yes!! My new wig arrived!!! As you can tell, I'm reasonably excited about it! I haven't had a chance to wear it with Lolita yet, since my dresses are being dry cleaned at the moment (I've had to save up to clean them as I'm also saving for my dream dress). But I have had the chance to wear it around the house.

Here's me in it! As you can see, it's a pink and lavender split wig and it's from Mintymix, although I actually bought it on the egl comm sales (for less money too, hehe)!

The fibres are so soft! And the colours are lovely! I am totally in love with this wig, and no doubt I'll be ordering another after my dream dress has been saved up for.

Hehe, I can't wait to go out in public in this ~should be fun!

It came with a base wig and two ponytails, and seperate hair nets for each. The wig does get pretty heavy once you put the ponytails in, but I really don't mind, it's so worth it!!

I love it so much <3 thank you for reading!

A Loli Prom

So, a few days ago was my prom! I decided I didn't wanna dress up in some silly long dress that didn't suit me, nor did I want to reveal lots of leg in a mini dress.... Lolita! That was the answer! So I wore it. It was an interesting night, I'll say that. Here's a photo with my friend! (Please ignore my terrible facial expression, people kept making me laugh). I wore my sweetest dress and went for a deco look hair accessories wise! It was pretty fun: some random guy hugged me and people told me I looked cute ~yay! But I was so scared when I got out of my car and everyone looked so lovely, so NORMAL!!! It all worked out though!

Just a mini-post to tell you a little about my life, because I don't talk about it much! Thank you for reading.

Saving for your dream dress?

Are you saving for that perfect dream dress? Counting your pennies and working every hour God sends?? Well, I am... And it's darn hard. But of course, it'll be worth it as soon as I touch that beautifully printed material and first look in the mirror wearing it. That feeling... IS AMAZING. But what it takes to get to that feeling is a lot more difficult than it may seem. Lolita is an expensive hobby, what with all the dry cleaning bills (I think I've mentioned those before, but they sure are annoying!!) and pricey shipping costs! However, it's the price we must pay for such beautiful things. So? What can I do to make sure I reach the ultimate goal - the dream dress? Well, here are some fairly nifty (OH MY GOD, I can't believe I seriously just wrote 'nifty', I never say that!) tips on how to scrimp and save. These are more like tips for people who find it hard to stop spending, even though they really want that dress! I know there are a lot of people very dedicated to getting their dream dress, and I really admire them.

  1. (This one's a bit of an obvious one) Work a little overtime if it's availiable to you, but not too much, you don't want to be so exhausted you collapse in fatigue before actually buying your dream dress!!

  2. Try to clean your dresses a little less often to save on those evil dry cleaning bills. Instead, air them in a clean, well-ventilated place to become fresh again.

  3. Any money you earn/receive give to a family member or friend (who definitely won't spend it) so you can't get at it! You need to pick someone who won't give it to you until you have enough for the dream dress, no matter how much you beg!

  4. Ban yourself from the egl comm sales, all online and real-life loli shops. This one is probably the most important, it should help you resist temptation!

  5. Put a picture of your dream dream somewhere you can see it, like on your desk or as your laptop background. This way, you always remember about your goal, and are less likely to spend your money on other stuff!
Now, after all this, and a lot of time, you should have enough money to buy your dream dress! Enjoy it everyone, and I really hope this helps a bit! Thought you might want to see my dream dress, so here it is:Metamorphose Rabbit Cafe OP! Image from Hellolace.

Should Lolita be "condoned"?

As every Lolita knows, some do not agree with the fashion and feel strongly about it. This may arise as a few nasty comments or malicious laughter following you down the street. Some feel they cannot condone Lolita.

I was inspired to write this post as I was told my a friend tonight she felt that did not agree with Lolita, and would not be seen with me anymore, as she couldn't turn a blind eye to it any longer. I'm not quite sure why she didn't like the idea of Lolita, and although I could see where she was coming from... it wasn't as if I were asking her to dress in it, so why did it matter so much, I thought to myself.

So why don't people condone Lolita?

Yes, Lolita stands out and yes, it is often misconceived due to its name. But surely a fashion so pure and beautiful could be accepted? However, it is out of the ordinary, or at least it is where I live, and people can sometimes find that hard to cope with. I can understand that! Yet, why must people find they can't put up with it if it's not offending them in any way? Well, I suppose it's up to them.

All I know is that Lolita makes me happy, and I love everything about it! Well, maybe not the massive dry-cleaning bills, hehe. So, shouldn't your friends understand that, and allow you to be happy? I would hope so, but not always....

Loli Outfits of the week! #1

Note: this type of post will be published every saturday (hopefully without fail)!

These are two of my favourite outfits from Daily Lolita, and despite my style being mainly sweet, I love this gothic lolita co-ordinate! It's so well put together and could be described as "old school". I also love her hair! It suits the outfit brilliantly.

The original post can be found here with more photos and an outfit run-down!

It's adorable!!

I love this outfit! I just think her co-ord is great and that the wig suits her perfectly! You can find her original Daily Lolita post here.

I love the pink and blue together - so cute!

Her outfit run down can be found in her original post along with another lovely outfit.

I want to thank both lolitas, ebby_blackwood and gingerysoul for allowing me to use their outfit photos in this post! You both looked awesome!
